Icon in Spotfire disappears but does not disappear

Question

I have a list in Spotfire with countries in it. There is (None) in the list as an option. When a country is selected in the list, the country name and asterisk icon are displayed on another test panel. After that, if (None) is selected, the name of the country disappears, but the star only disappears. I need it to disappear, just like the text.

Here is an example:

then select None

Here is the javascript that I have in the panel for output. The goal is to not display the icon if None is selected.
