"Operation timed out" error while trying to ssh in Amazon EMR Spark Cluster

Question

I am trying ssh in Amazon EMR Spark Cluster. Here is what I did:

• Get cluster IP address:

  aws emr describe-cluster --cluster-id <cluster_id> | grep MasterPublicDnsName
  

• Use the IP address for ssh in the field:

  ssh -i CSxxx.pem [e-mail]
  

I am stuck here since running (2) gives me the error below:

ssh: connect to host ec2-xx-xxx-xxx-xxx.ap-southeast-1.compute.amazonaws.com port 22: Operation timed out

Any ideas on how to fix this?

"Operation timeout" It usually happens for one of two reasons:

• IP-, , EMR. , / , , " " SSH IP, IP.

• , EMR VPC, , SSH, SSH'ing VPC, SSH'ing node . , VPC AWS.
