Which compiler to choose for Qt MinGW or MSVC in which case?

I start with QTusing 64-bit windows Windows I already have MinGWand I don’t have VS.

  • Which version QTto choose ( MSVSor MinGW) and for what purpose? Are there any cases when I have to choose one over the other?

  • I saw that the only version QTfor MinGWis 32 bits, however it MinGWalso supports 64 bits, why?

  • You better install both of them. MinGW version for development and MSVC version for release.
  • Because the guys at Digia, who are building Qt releases, have decided that there is no need to release x64 MinGW. But you can get sources and create them yourself.
  • Yes, you need both.
