You can usually install Shiny Server by connecting via ssh to your R-server after this guide :

sudo su - \
-c "R -e \"install.packages('shiny', repos='https://cran.rstudio.com/')\""
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gdebi-core
wget https://download3.rstudio.org/ubuntu-12.04/x86_64/shiny-server-1.5.3.838-amd64.deb
sudo gdebi shiny-server-1.5.3.838-amd64.deb

By default, the Rstudio Server port is 3838not allowed, to change it simply

  • switch to Network Security groups
  • Click the security group associated with your virtual machine.
  • go to Inbound security rulesthe selected security group
  • default-allow-ssh . Add+ name=allow-shiny protocol=TCP port range=3838 .
  • http://your_public_ip:3838 - RStudio.
