Defining documents for converting md to pdf

I read that you can specify the paper size pandoc -V papersize:"a4paper" .... It doesn't seem to work anymore. I managed to point B5with

pandoc -V papersize:b5 -o out.pdf in.md

But this fails, for example b6. The following arguments -Valso seem to have no effect:

-V papersize:b5paper
-V papersize:"b5paper"
-V "papersize:b5paper"

How to format this correctly, or am I missing something more fundamental? In my opinion, the documentation is far from clear, for example, missing. any examples.

-V papersize:a4 -V geometry:a4paper. , , .

pandoc -V geometry:b5paper infile -o outfile.pdf

Using "geometry" worked for me.

I assume that the options here in the Reference Guide section will work (but I have not tested).
