Why is Julia not indented like Python?

I really like Python's indentation syntax; it makes the code much more concise.

Is there a reason Julia was not chosen as indentation as well?

Please note that my intention is solely to find out about the motives that Julia's developers adhered to this decision; whether we agree with these motives or not, another discussion. I am not going to start an endless discussion.
