How to merge or even disable footnote links in asciidoc fop

I have a rather large asciidoc document that I dynamically translated into PDF for our developer guide. Since the document often refers to Java classes that are described in our developer guide, we converted them to links directly in the documents, for example:

In this block we create a new 
https://www.codenameone.com/javadoc/com/codename1/ui/Form.html[Form] 
named `hi`. 

This works pretty well for the most part and looks great in HTML, as each reference to a class leads directly to its JavaDoc, which makes the link / manual process much easier.

However, when we generate the PDF, we will get something like this on some pages:

Footnote hell

Normally, I would not miss a lot of footnotes or even repetitions from the previous page. However, in this case, the link to the Container appears 3 times.
