Adding Authentication to a JMeter REST Request

I spent most of today trying to achieve this, and still have not been successful. I have a simple case - I just would like to send one GET request to my web service. But no matter what I do, I can not get it to authenticate. I tried all sorts of combinations of Authorization Manager, Cookie Manager, Header Manager ... To no avail.

I swallowed this simplest test:

Thread Group
---->HTTP Authorization Manager
---->HTTP Request
---->View Results Tree

What can I lose? I tried several URLs for authorization manager and am currently configured for https://[domain]:[port].
I filled in the username and password, and what it is.
