External Authentication for Spring OAuth2

Is it possible to use Spring OAuth2 as a pure authorization permission by providing external authentication for it? Or should Spring OAuth2 supposedly be used this way? If so, what are the injection points for this configuration?

If you are familiar with Kong , this basically works with the OAuth plugin:

here Login Webapp (which is responsible for authentication) is an external application for Kong OAuth.
