Test iCloud recovery using a test application

I am wondering if there is a way to check iCloud backup recovery for a test application that has not yet been sent to the application store.

Since iCloud backup only supports application data, and not the actual application (unlike local backup via iTunes), recovery occurs in this case.

Is there a way around this problem for testing purposes?
