The background color of the tvOS button button, where it is not installed correctly

As you can see, I am trying to set the button color to very light blue, but by default everything except the bezel is darkened. Does the default button behavior cause this? Is there a workaround besides creating your own button? If I need to create my own button, how can I reuse the default button animation behavior? Thanks.
