Custom Linear Layout Manager adds blank map to recyclerView

I use the recycler view to display a list of cards in an Android app. I used to use LinearLayoutManager to install a layout manager to view recyclers. But using this wrapcontent value for the height label of the recycler view did not work, and it covered the entire application screen. Using @davkutalek answer in this question How to get WRAP_CONTENT to work with RecyclerView , I was able to set the recyclerview height to wrap the content
