Is there a mechanism for maintaining processor state between calls

Question

Is there a mechanism for saving / maintaining the state of the processor between calls? In particular, I want a reliable mechanism to know when my last process was running, even if the processor or even NiFi itself was restarted.

(Please do not give answers such as hBase or the file system. I am looking for something provided by NiFi, or which can be created using services provided by NiFi)
