Unable to access 127.0.0.1

I can’t understand when this happened, but the result - 127.0.0.1 does not work on any of the ports from anywhere (for example, the browser says “Unable to connect”). Here are the results of my research:

  • localhost, COMPUTER_NAME and the actual IP address are working fine
  • There is nothing special about my hosts file.
  • ping to 127.0.0.1 and tracert do work fine
  • all programs with 127.0.0.1 hardcoded do not work (this moment makes me disappoint most of all, because in this case I can do nothing)

What else can I do to determine the source of the problem and fix it?

UPDATE: as soon as Redis runs on 127.0.0.1, and both IIS and AzureStorageEmulator do not work, I assume this is only a problem with HTTP.

Only one team did the job

netsh http add iplisten 127.0.0.1

If this is a DNS problem, you can try:

  • ipconfig / flushdns
  • ipconfig / registerdns

If this does not fix, you can try editing the hosts file located here:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

And make sure that this line (and no other line referencing localhost) is missing:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Windows , -. .

If you cannot find it, turn on the IIS functions for windows: At 7,8,10 it is located under the control panel, "turns window functions on or off." Internet Services World Wide Web Services and Internet Services Requiring Hostable Core Services are required. Not sure if there is another way to do this on Windows, but it worked for me for all browsers. You may need to add localhost or http: /127.0.0.1 to trusted websites also in IE settings.
