I just discovered that you can force close a frozen application on iOS. According to Technical Note TN2151 I should get a crash log on my device with code 0xdeadfa11, but I don't have such crashlog.
The exception code 0xdeadfa11 indicated that the application was forcibly terminated by the user. Power throws occur when the user first holds the on / off button until the βslide to turn offβ indicator appears, and then holds the Home button. It is reasonable to assume that the user did this because the application became unresponsive, but it is not guaranteed - forced shutdown will work in any application.
Note. Terminating a paused application by removing it from the multitasking tray does not generate a crash report. Once the application is paused, it can be canceled by iOS at any time, so a crash report will not be generated.
Is this an apple mistake or are there some extra steps that I am missing?
EDIT
If I check the device console after turning off the power, I see this log:
ReportCrash [2074]: Stackshot 0xdeadfa11 code not set, ignoring
It seems that for some reason, iOS decides not to generate a crash report in an emergency.
