I am running Windows 10 with VirtualBox (5.0.10). I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed as a guest OS that accesses the host OS through the vboxfs share.
When editing a file saved on the host OS (Windows) through this resource, emacs constantly gives me a warning that the file that I am currently editing has been changed on disk ( File.txt changed on disk; really edit the buffer?). A similar warning is issued when you try to save.
This only happens when editing a file saved in the host OS, and I cannot associate it with any other software / process (for example, antivirus software). Apparently, this is due to differences in file timestamps on 2 OSs, although NTP is enabled on Ubuntu, and the error occurs even immediately after rebooting 2 OSs (so I assume the times are the same as they will ever be) . This happens every time after the first save.
This question has been asked, and in this question, https://stackoverflow.com/a/166149/212 has been asked the order of work. However, the work specified here does not satisfactorily cope with this problem, because they actually simply turn off the safe control of checking whether the file was modified on disk outside the editor.
The real issue seems to be related to the timestamp issue. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
