Use insertion when naming a list

Naming a list like this works fine:

list("mtcars" = mtcars)

But when I try to use paste, I get an error message:

list(paste("mtcars") = mtcars)

Error: unexpected '=' in "list(paste("mtcars") ="

How can I use pastewhen naming a list?

You can initialize the list with myList <- list()and then add named elements:

myList[[paste("mtcars")]] <- mtcars

We can use mget

myList <- mget("mtcars")

It will get values in listwith strings as names.

str(myList)
#List of 1
# $ mtcars:'data.frame': 32 obs. of 11 variables:
# ..$ mpg : num [1:32] 21 21 22.8 21.4 18.7 18.1 14.3 24.4 22.8 19.2 ...
