Why is code coverage zero with Scalatest, Maven and cobertura?

I am trying to get Cobertura to work on a really simple example project with Maven and Scala. Here is my pom:

I turned off surefire, turned on Scalatest, and the tests are actually running.

I added the Maven Cobertura plugin to the assembly and reporting part of pom. When i started

mvn clean install cobertura:cobertura -Dcobertura.report.format=xml

I get a coverage report that says that nothing is covered, coverage is 0%.

Now I tried different things: I played with part of the execution, I moved the material from the assembly to the report section and vice versa, I tried different goals of Maven. Everything was in vain - neither a report was created, nor was it stated that it covers 0%.
