Editing mutil-line in KDevelop?

I would like to make multi-line changes in KDevelop, like editing columns in Visual Studio when altheld down, so that my cursor expands across several lines, and each key pressed is written to each row at the same time.

This link seems to show that Kate has such an opportunity, and I understand that Kate is a KDevelop text editor. However, when I use ctrl-shft-Bto enter block editing mode, the cursor appears only at the bottom of the block and is entered on one line. Am I doing something wrong, or is multi-line editing not supported?

I am currently using version 4.7.2

After activating the block editing mode, you can select several lines with the mouse or, for example. Shift+Down. Then just start typing.
