Make a phone call using the speakerphone programmatically?

I have an application that initiates a phone call to a given number. I would like to use the speakerphone for this, but I can not find a way to turn on the speaker anywhere except an audio player. I am using UIApplication.sharedApplication to initiate a phone call. Any help helping turn on the speaker would be greatly appreciated!
