The list of Wi-Fi adapters in the Windows 10 application does not work

Question

I have a universal Windows 10 application, and I'm trying to get a list of WiFi adapters:

var adapters = await WiFiAdapter.FindAllAdaptersAsync();

I have all the necessary permissions. This call works once. Then, when I close or kill the application, the call is interrupted with

An attempt was made to establish a session on a network server, but too many sessions have already been established on this server. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800704C4)

The error message is strange, I don’t know how to interpret or, more importantly, fix it.
