Kiosk mode on unmanaged Chromeboxes?

I am trying to turn on the kiosk mode for an unmanaged chrome window following the official instructions , but when I am in chrome://extensionsdeveloper mode there is no option to Add a kiosk application .

Did this happen at some point, leaving the kiosk mode available only for managed devices?

Edit The kiosk mode application that I used was simple, which I wrote and loaded through the "unpacked extension" window on the extensions page.

Then I published it to verify accounts and turned on the chrome box account as a tester and downloaded it from the Chrome Web Store. The effect is the same, and I still do not see the options for kiosk application.

Double editing I published it not in the list and installed it. The application installs and works. I have "kiosk_enabled" : truein my manifest, and I still don’t see the option of kiosk mode.

A kiosk management button appeared:

  • Removing other users. The first user on the machine is the owner. I tried to use the kiosk mode of the second user.
  • Device restart

After the reboot, the "Manage kiosk applications" button is activated. A solution has been outlined in this error since 2014: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=385943
