I just started using TFS last week in a new assignment. My previous experience was mainly with Subversion, and one thing I liked about Subversion was that it forces you to get the latest data before checking everything that is inconsistent. In addition, you must resolve conflicts (or explicitly mark them as resolved, even if they are in fact).
In TFS, it seems that people inadvertently kill other people, changing from time to time when 2 people were working on the same file. I am sure that this, of course, is due to the inexperienced with TFS, but it seems that the Subversion workflow has complicated this, and although I regularly helped people resolve conflicts in Subversion, I don’t remember that any real problems with people wiping others people by code randomly.
Is there a way to get TFS to get you to get the latest and resolve all conflicts before checking?
