SAP PI / PO vs Open Source ESB

Is SAP PI / PO a true ESB now? I read various sources, claiming that it was not quite there 4-5 years ago.

And what if you have a very SAP-oriented environment, would you be very strongly encouraged to use PI / PO instead of the more standard integration platforms such as Mule ESB, Jboss Fuse, BizTalk, and Oracle ESB?

If you, first of all, have experience with the mentioned ESN platform, would it be advisable to integrate with SAP Pi? What are the benefits of PI?

I see that everyone has the opportunity to integrate with SAP, but the unexpected information seems difficult to find in the SAP scene.
