Add an overlay to the video and save it on iOS

Question

I need to record a video and add a simple outline to it UIView, but I also need to save it with this overlay. My problem is only saving the video overlay. Do I need to add this video after recording is complete? And if so, how? It should work just like in the InstaWeather application. Thanks in advance.
