Selenium 2.48.2 + firefox 42 + browser does not receive instance

I upgraded to Selenium 2.48.2 from version 2.46.0 and updated firefox to the latest version 42. After the upgrade, the browser does not receive an instance.

This happens for all projects. I also tried lowering firefox and selenium, but that didn't help.

Please suggest !!

In my experience, Selenium Webdriver does not support the latest versions of Firefox. Try downgrading to earlier versions. You can try checking CHANGELOG Selenium, there they refer to some versions that are likely to work.

I cleaned up the profile and it started working for me, then I copied the cookie database into the new profile, as it was a requirement that would be difficult to rebuild.

In this situation, you have two solutions:

  • downgrade firefox and selenium (for example, I'm currently using selenium 2.46.0 with FF 41.0.1)
  • upgrade version of FF to version 43.0, which works fine with selenium 2.48.2
