How to add folder structure in VS2015?

In older versions of VS, when you drag and drop a folder from Windows File Explorer into your VS solution, it will reference this folder, including the entire structure and subfolder files. In VS2015, when I drag and drop a folder into the solution, it just refers to all the files in that folder and subfolder, but ignores the folder structure. Thus, it resets the entire file link under one filter.

Is there a way to get the previous behavior in VS2015?

The way I do this is to add folders to the project structure (i.e., under the .sln file), and then turn on “Show all files” (you may need to “Refresh”).

Right-click the folders you want to add and click "Include in Project".

(I did not know about drag and drop!)

The answer is:

the reason you don’t see “include in the project”: either you created a solution from outside the visual studio community, or the solution got corrupt

to solve this problem:

  • backup the solution (just in case)
  • in the solution explorer - right-click the project name and select "Rebuil solution"
  • Click "show all files" (if not clicked)
  • , , " ".
  • " " ( " " ), / .
