Can I call an HTTPS service using a self-signed certificate with ATS enabled?

Since I use an IP address instead of a domain, I want to know how to do domain registration using ATS.

I also wanted to know if Apple would refuse my application if I use a self-signed certificate to invoke HTTPS.
