No wicd-kde client on kubuntu 15.10

I am currently launching a Kubuntu 15.10 system that is really good (nice and comfortable, a bit slower than Ubuntu but not biggie).

My network manager, however, flickers quite a lot. This is not my first time with Kubuntu, and I hope they fix this problem already, but they did not, so I searched a bit and found that wicd-kde was a formidable substitute for KDE’s own network manager.

I installed wicd-kde after this page of instructions , but did not find the mentioned wicd client in the "Configuring WICD" section.

The instructions page does not refresh, but I'm not sure if the compatibility problem is with 15.10.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and managed to fix it?

The most likely situation is that you need to add the wicd widget to the taskbar. There should be a symbol in the lower right corner of the taskbar that allows you to access your taskbar settings. In my KDE, it looks like this (to the right of the date):

Look to the right of the date

Click on it, then click on "Add widgets ...". Then you can find "Wicd" and select it.

As mentioned on the Debian wiki (but I think it is the same as Ubuntu):

  • You can install it through

    apt-get install wicd

  • Make sure you add your regular account to the netdev group

    # adduser yourusername netdev

  • Reboot DBus

    # /etc/init.d/dbus reload

  • Run the wicd daemon

    # /etc/init.d/wicd start

  • Launch wicd GUI with regular user account

    # exit
    $ wicd-client -n

  • wicd ,

    $ wicd-client -t

Unity wicd bug.
