Are poor performance fast?

Swift offers the ability to write extensions. I do this to make my code more readable. Not sure if they are harmless. I am wondering if it would be better to just skip extensions due to performance reasons?

Apple encourages the use of extensions. You can read more about them in the Swift documentation here .
