Is a header widely supported for email clients

If I add a response header to the letters that I send, which distinguishes them from the address, it will always work for my users no matter which client they use.

I have had situations where replies are sent to the from address instead of the reply address.

It’s hard to answer. There is no strict rule that customers must comply with the Reply-To header. This is all RFC 2822 says on this subject (section 3.6.2):

, . "Reply-To:" , (), . "Reply-To:", (), ":", , .

"". , Reply-To , From.

, RFC 2119:

"" , , , .

, , , , , - . , Reply-To, , .
