Azure virtual computer slow start

Question

I have 2 azure vm created, 1 windows 2012 r2 server and 1 Ubuntu 14. It takes about 5 minutes to start up to start.

Is there a way to speed up the process?

I do not need vm to run continuously, I prefer to start / stop as needed.

No steps are taken to speed up VM startup. Resources must be allocated and provided by VM.
