Inno Service Request Windows Service Status

I am trying to find a way to request the status of a Windows service, that is, whether it will be started, stopped or disabled. I know what I can use sc.exe query ServiceName, but it will be connected with using a batch file to find the status in the output, transfer to the file and then read this, which seems a bit confusing. I found the following Windows API function on MSDN , which I suppose is likely to do what I want, but I don’t have to necessarily include this in Inno Setup. Also, is there any other way that could be used to return the status of a Windows service initially using Inno Setup?

WinAPI is the best way to manage services from Inno Setup so far. For your purpose, just use the function QueryServiceStatus. It was replaced by a version Exonly to return what you do not need for your task; it is not out of date. The following code uses the minimum required access rights , so it can work even without raising the administrator:

InnoSetup does not provide a native method for checking the installation / start status of a service.
