PyCharm requests python interpreter when loading project

Rather disappointing, every time I load an existing project or create a new one, it complains that no interpreter has been selected, and I must indicate the path to it.

There is nothing unusual in my python installation, it was sitting in C: / Python27 /, as you would expect. It always worked, but something has changed in the last few weeks.

I am running Win7. The PATH system variable points to C: / Python27 / as it should be.

If I tear open the command prompt, the python command opens as it should.

Any ideas?
