With a clean installation by default, you must enable Edit and Continue.

If you upgraded from a previous version, you will need to set all three of the following properties in your projects. Property Page:

• In the C / C ++ → General section, set the "Debugging Information Format" to "Database of Programs for Editing and Continuing (/ ZI)"
• In the Linker → General section, set "Enable incremental binding" to "Yes (/ INCREMENTAL)".
