Attempting to use "import" and "export" es6 with asterisk-es6 in Rails 4

I am trying to use the words "import" and "export" for es6, as described at the beginning of babeljs, using the sprockets-es6 gem in Rails 4.

Can someone give an example of how to use it? I get an error message "import" should be present on top.
