List of C ++ initializers with complex structures

I am working on modifying this C code to work with the g ++ compiler, and I am stuck in this rather complex structure. The g ++ compiler complains "sorry, not implemented: nontrivial assigned initializers are not supported." I know a solution that involves writing a constructor, but calling the constructor will be huge and too confusing. Is there a way to simplify this and exaggerate it so that it is more readable and compatible with g ++.
