Android - vector images lose quality?

Question

I have images from my designer, which are vector images that should be scalable for all sizes and look good or something like that (the developer is not a designer for them). My problem is that when I add it to my application using Bitmap, the image loses quality.

Does android support vector images? Is it because I present them as a bitmap? What is it?
