How to set profile profiling in Visual Studio (C ++)

I have two configurations - Debug and Release in my project. Profiling an application in debug mode gives me odd results, because some function performs additional checks in DEBUG mode and is not optimized. Profiling in release mode does not give me any information about the name of the functions, I can only see the time spent in the module.

What is the minimum release configuration change that will be used with the profiler and most closely resembles the release in performance? I mean, what do I need to change in the release configuration in order to be able to use the results from the profiler?
