Adapt TableView Menu Button

Problem

SetTableMenuButtonVisible TableView provides a mechanism for changing the visibility of a table column. However, this functionality is poor:

  • The menu should remain open. I have an e. d. 15 columns of the table and it’s a pain to click the menu open → click the column → click the menu open → click the next column → ... It’s a pain to change the visibility of several columns

  • There must be a select all / deselect all function

  • There should be a way to expand the menu with custom items

  • After you deselect all columns, there is no way to re-select the column because the header is gone and the table menu with it

In other words: the current implementation of the table menu is useless.

Question

Does anyone know how to replace an existing table menu with the correct one? I saw a solution with finding the ".show-hide-columns-button" style and adding an event filter. However, this was 2 years ago, perhaps everything has changed.

Here is how I would like to do this, demonstrated through ContextMenu (for example, right-clicking on a table):

Inspired by the ControlsFX solution, I myself solved the problem using reflection. If someone has a better idea and a cleaner way without thinking, I’m all ears. I created the utils class to distinguish it from the sample code.
