I am working on VS2010 C #, which allows users to enter data in English, as well as in Hindi (Unicode).
The application works well on Windows, but on Linux (with Mono-2.10.8) it displays fields instead of displaying Unicode characters.
mononukoder problem http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/1395/vry.png
I tried running it on Debian Wheezy Stable and Ubuntu LTS 12.04. I also tried to compile it with MonoDevelop; still no luck.
Is there any workaround?
I found a solution that I want to share with the community.
The problem was local. I installed the var LANG environment in hi_IN.utf-8 and solved the problem.

I also had a similar problem with the Japanese. I fixed my problem by changing LANG=ja_JP.utf-8.
LANG=ja_JP.utf-8
