Create custom documents (PDF files) on the fly on a website

I want to create custom documents on my website that runs on a Linux server. My website has the ability to log in to access specific information on the website.

What I want to do:

  • Use the .texdefault file that stores the contents of the main document. This will be available on the server (on the administrator side);

  • Get some user input (for example, login name, day and date when the request was made), their user inputs, such as the specific details that they want (this will allow you to include or exclude several sections, sections from the document);

  • Using the input data obtained above (in paragraph 2), the document will be configured on the fly on the website by launching the LaTeX compiler, and the compilation result will be transmitted to the user.

My questions:

  • Has anyone tried this before? Any suggestions, alternatives that they point to? If there is a better solution than LaTeX, I am open to hearing and understanding this.

  • Are there any specific settings that need to be done either on the server or on a LaTeX installation that will allow this?

  • Need to install additional packages, programs for them to work?

Any help and understanding would be appreciated.
