iTerm2 "Cmd + Click" to open a file does not work in a Tmux session

Question

I am using iTerm2 with a Tmux session connecting to a local Tmux server. In the regular window / tab, iTerm2 I can use Cmd + Clickto open the file with the default application. However, it does not work in a Tmux session. Instead of opening a file in the default application, iTerm2 always opens it as a URL in the default browser.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Or am I having something wrong with my Tmux configuration?
