Git for windows stopped working

Question

Just overnight, my GIT for windows stops working for every repository.

Each GIT operation ends with a dialogue saying: “Git for Windows stops working” (whether from GIT bash, PowerShell or SourceTree):

 /c/Projects/Github/SignalR (master)
$ git pull upstream master

I completely reinstalled GIT, deleted all credential assistants (latest version, 1.9.4), deleted my .gitconfig file, uninstalled / reinstalled GIT extensions, nothing helps.

Event Viewer only mentions an error in the ntdll.dll file:

I don't seem to have any new window updates installed since yesterday, when it worked fine ...

Any ideas that might trigger this all of a sudden?
