I filed my welcome file in web.xml, but when I run the application, it shows a 404 error on http://172.16.2.16:8080/sampletest/
This is a spring application.

I am using eclipse luna, java 8, tomcat 8 and maven framework. The index.html file is located directly under the webapp folder, and web.xml is located in the webapp / WEB-INF folder.
If I use index.jsp instead of index.html, it works. Then the welcome page will load usinghttp://172.16.2.16:8080/sampletest/
The problem is only the welcome file. Otherwise, the spring configuration will work.
http://localhost:8080/sampletest/test/will load data from the database.
