I design a website primarily for use on mobile phones. One of our guys here has an older iPhone, and he is the only one who sometimes experiences “site slowness” (wow. Many features). So I study this, and I found these blog entries that indicate that the iPhone does not cache individual components above 25 kb (EDIT: now reduced to 15 kB). But this is a few years.
