How to get information reg. active notification in status bar

I want to read the notifications sitting in my status bar and based on the notification topic, I need to perform some actions. Is it possible? If yes, please let me know ..

Starting with API 18, there is a NotificationListenerService class . You can use it to receive active notifications or to be notified of new notifications.
