Xcode - code signature identification automatically?

Question

What does the code signing identifier Automaticin Xcode 5 mean on the build settings tab? When I select iOS Developerboth Debug and Release use it. What should i use? Will I be able to distribute the app with the iPhone developer id for relase?

My training profiles (option below) are installed correctly ( Debuguse Team provisioning profileand Releaseuse my ad-hoc profile), what is the difference between setting the code signing identifier and the training profile alone?
