Phonegap: how to play sound on android for push notification

Question

I have a PhoneGap application with push notifications running on iOS and Android. The only problem that I have encountered for several hours now is that on Android I only get a small icon on top of the screen for my push notification, while on iOS I get sound, a notification on my locked screen, a notification center and etc. full month.

Is this possible on Android? Display a message on the lock screen, or at least play a sound or vibrate when a push notification arrives? Is this something you need to configure in PhoneGap? Or do I need to add JS to my application or PHP code to my script server?
