Os Exec Sudo Command in Go

Question

In the process of getting to know Go and goroutines, I hit the road block with the execution of commands. The format of these commands is:

sudo find /folder -type f | while read i; do sudo -S chmod 644 "$i"; done

With code taken from How to execute a system command in the Golang with unknown arguments, I try to execute this command, but I believe that it does not execute because of the first argument being a sudo, I could be wrong. I have only two questions.

When these commands are not executed, I return "exit status 1", is there a way to get a more detailed error than what I am doing? Second question: why should I get "exit status 1" with this script? What happens is this not supposed to be?
